Clinical Pastoral Education

Theological students, lay people and clergy of all faiths (pastors, priests, ministers, rabbis and imams) can undertake Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.

A regional leader in CPE training for forty years, the Overlook Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education Program is accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education. Our interfaith, graduate-level professional educational program prepares participants to provide support to patients and their families in a hospital setting. More than 450 students have completed our Level I, Level II and Supervisory CPE training.

We offer three types of programming:

• A 32-week Extended Unit from September through May
• Two Modified 16-week Units, one in the fall and one in the spring
• An 11-week Summer Intensive Unit

Tuition is $500 for each CPE program, and some scholarship aid is available.
