Curriculum and Application

Curriculum

The Program, which begins in September, is 44 weeks long. This includes two week winter and spring vacations. Courses include Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, and Immunology.

Prerequisites

To be eligible for admission, applicants must show one of the following:
Completion of three years of post secondary work (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours) and active enrollment in a baccalaureate Medical Technology Program or,
A baccalaureate degree, which includes all of the program prerequisite coursework.
In either case, the applicant should have a science GPA of at least 2.8


Pre-requisite course requirements are:

  • 16 semester hours of Chemistry which must include Organic or Biochemistry
  • 16 semester hours of Biology which must include Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Immunology. The two latter must have been completed within the last seven (7) years.
  • One course in college-level mathematics.

Other admission criteria:

While the academic record is the single most important admission criterion, non-academic criteria are also important.

  • References. Two recommendations are required from individuals familiar with your academic performance.
  • Interview. An interview is requested of applicants who meet the initial screening criteria. The interview allows the applicant an opportunity to demonstrate interpersonal skills, express personal goals and ask questions about the program.


Applicants who hold a degree from a University outside of the U.S. must have their transcript evaluated with grade equivalence. Contact the Program Director at 973-971-5282 for the name and address of an acceptable agency.

Your application must be submitted on or before October 15 of the year preceding your admission date. Applications received after that date will be reviewed and considered at the discretion of the Program Director. An official transcript must be sent directly to the Program by the college.
