Robotic Surgery

 Robotic Surgery
Using the da Vinci® Surgical System, our highly skilled surgeons perform a wide array of procedures that are less invasive than ever before. Morristown Memorial is one of a select number of hospitals worldwide to offer this exciting technology, and have performed over 300 robotic surgeries to date.

The da Vinci® Surgical System is powered by state-of-the-art robotic technology that helps your surgeon see vital anatomical structures more clearly and allows for unprecedented precision and control of surgical instruments through tiny incisions. For example, the surgeon can easily rotate the instrument 360 degrees, something no human hand can do. What's more -- the da Vinci® Surgical System keeps the surgical instruments steady, compensating for any hand movements on the part of the surgeon.

Robotic surgery typically offers numerous benefits over open surgery, including:

  • Less scarring
  • Less blood loss
  • Less pain
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Quicker recovery time
  • Decreased risk of infection
  • Fewer complications

The success of the da Vinci® Surgical System in prostate surgery has inspired the surgical team at Morristown Memorial Hospital to expand its use. In fact, we were the first hospital on the entire eastern seaboard to perform a robotic sacro-culpopexy to correct a female pelvic prolapse. And our cardiac surgeons are on the front lines as use of the da Vinci® Surgical System in cardiac surgery continues to evolve.

Robotic surgery is not appropriate for all patients. Speak to your doctor to find out if you are a candidate.
