Applying for Residency
How do I apply?We only accept the Electronic Residency Application (ERAS) application.How many letters of recommendation do I need?Three, in addition to your Dean’s letter.Do you require a letter from the Chairman of Pediatrics at my school?No. However, if you have worked closely with your chairman, either in a research or clinical setting, it would be appropriate to include a letter from him or her.Do all of my letters of recommendation need to be from pediatricians?No. Letters should come from faculty with whom you have worked closely and who will be best able to assess your clinical/ research abilities. However, we do recommend that at least one of your letters be from a pediatrician.Is there a maximum number of letters of recommendations you will accept?ERAS allows as many letters of recommendation as you feel are as necessary. However, no more than four letters may be sent to any individual program.How will I be notified if I am offered an interview?Applicants will be notified by regular mail, with email and telephone follow-up when they have been offered an interview.When should I call to schedule an interview?Please call Mary Batjer, residency coordinator, at 973-971-7802 after you have been invited.How are interview dates assigned?Interviews are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays in November, December, and January. Scheduling is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Although we will do our best to accommodate your schedule, we cannot guarantee the availability of your requests as each day has a limited number of interviews available.How do I sign up for a visiting rotation?To schedule a visiting elective at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, please contact Pam Crowley at 973-971-5316. |
