Daily conferences

Morning Report
8:00 - 8:45am
Faculty members from general pediatrics and subspecialties discuss the previous night’s admissions with the senior residents. This high level conference focuses on differential diagnosis and management issues.

Attending Rounds
9:00 - 10:00am
Floor team in addition to a general pediatrician and sub-specialist discuss case presentations and differential diagnosis with emphasis on pathophysiology.

Noon Conference
Noon - 1:00pm
Faculty members from subspecialties, general pediatrics and other disciplines present topics in a variety of different formats. Each month is dedicated to a particular specialty. Board review is incorporated into noon conference, as well and is geared toward that month’s specialty topic.

Weekly Conferences

Case Conference
8:00 - 9:00am
Each Thursday, an intern presents a grand-rounds style, power-point presentation on an interesting case. This highly educational conference is attended by all of the the residents, as well as the faculty and community pediatricians.

Grand Rounds
9:00 - 10:00am
Grand Rounds occurs on Thursday mornings and is host to a variety of speakers who are national, regional and local experts.

Monthly Conferences

Journal Club
This conference is given by the second and third year residents on an article of their choice. Residents and faculty scrutinize the article’s arguments and evidence, while the resident defends it.

Morbidity and Mortality Conference
The second and third year residents present this conference which is attended by residents and faculty and focuses on a case selected by the presenting resident, with emphasis on improvement of patient care.

Multidisciplinary Rounds
This conference, moderated by the chairman, includes representatives from the entire health care team: attending physicians, residents, nurses, social work and child life. It focuses on issues of communication between team members for the improvement of patient care.

Joint Pediatric/ Emergency Medicine Conference
This joint conference focuses on the pediatric aspect of emergency medicine by the two disciplines that know it the best.
