Eating Disorders Program

The Eating Disorders Program at Atlantic HealthThe Eating Disorders Program at Atlantic Health (EDPAH) is the only multidisciplinary program in New Jersey exclusively for children and adolescents. Our program offers education and treatment for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and related disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

EDPAH’s outpatient services include medical monitoring, and individual and family therapy, as well as two intensive treatment programs for those who need additional services. Our partial hospitalization program, which meets 40 hours per week, provides individual, group and family psychotherapy; yoga; art therapy; two therapeutic meals with observation per day; and a daily check-in with a medical professional for vitals and weight. We also offer an intensive outpatient program that meets eight hours per week and includes group, individual and family care. Our outpatient eating disorder programs allow patients to remain close to home, so that their families can fully participate in the recovery process.

Our inpatient services provide medical stabilization for those who are too medically fragile to participate in our outpatient programs. Once these patients are strong enough, they can participate in our partial hospitalization program.

Our program’s team of health care professionals, including board-certified adolescent medicine physicians, psychologists, a psychiatrist, creative arts therapists, nurses, social workers, therapists and nutritionists, are specially trained in providing comprehensive assessments and treatments for eating disorders and related problems.

EDPAH also provides access to information and services to community and school professionals concerned about eating disorders and young people at risk. The program is located at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey and is part of the Adolescent and Young Adult Center for Health at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.
