Morristown Memorial Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Philosophy of Care
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Morristown Memorial Hospital embraces the practice of family-centered care. Our multidisciplinary team strives to provide the best care in a nurturing, developmentally supportive environment for our infants and families. Kangaroo care, which is promoted in the NICU, is the practice of parents holding their baby in an upright position skin to skin on their chest. Many studies have proven that kangaroo care improves infant-parent bonding. It provides both parent and baby with essential parent/infant experiences and closeness. Your baby is familiar with your scent, voice, touch and breathing -- all that will help your baby to develop a sense of security and belonging. The NICU nursing staff will assist you in making kangaroo care a positive experience for you and your baby. Comfortable recliners are available in every room to enhance this experience. |
