Services Offered

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) offer a variety of services:

• Morristown Memorial Hospital Baby Portraits: Parents can have their newborn’s pictures taken at the hospital by portrait company Our365.
  
  
• Overlook Hospital Baby Portraits: Parents can have their newborn’s pictures taken at the hospital by portrait company Our365.
  
  
• Bereavement Program
  
  
• Car Seat Testing: Prior to discharge all infants in the NICU are given a car seat challenge test to assure their safety upon discharge.
  
  
• CPR Classes: CPR classes are offered on a routine basis for parents in the NICU provided by a NICU Nurse.
  
  
• High-Risk Infant Follow-up Clinic: Babies meeting specific criteria are followed after discharge in the High-Risk Infant Follow-Up Clinic.
  
  
• Lactation Consultant: Many babies admitted to the NICU for prematurity or illness may experience a delay in the beginning of oral feedings. The NICU offers services from certified lactation consultants that will support and guide you through the process of expressing your breast milk. When your baby is ready to breastfeed, our lactation consultants will educate and support you through the breastfeeding process to ensure a successful experience for both you and your baby. • Parent Education: Our parent education department offers classes with up-to-date information on all aspects of child care.
  
  
• Sibling Support Group: Having a newborn brother or sister in the NICU can be a frightening experience for siblings. That’s why the Child Life Department offers a sibling support group just for brothers and sisters of NICU babies. The program is given for siblings on a regular basis.
