Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures

The Division aims to provide a noninvasive evaluation of common and uncommon gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. Only 10-15 percent of patients require a procedure. However, when indicated, a full array of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures is available, including:

  • Upper endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Foreign body removal
  • Feeding tube placement (PEG)
  • Nutrition support (including tube feeds and TPN)
  • Suction rectal biopsy
  • pH probe
  • Liver biopsy
  • Breath hydrogen analysis for lactose intolerance
  • Esophageal motility
  • Antroduodenal motility
  • Colonic motility
  • Anorectal motility
  • Gastrostomy tube education
  • Patient/family education
  • Direct patient care
  • Nutrition counseling
