Children with Cancer
Our center treats children with cancer, including:
These specialists have immediate access to state-of-the-art-services, as well as being part of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). The Children’s Oncology Group is the largest cooperative cancer research group sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. The Valerie Fund Children’s Centers at Morristown Memorial and Overlook Hospitals maintain active participation in COG, which gives patients access to highly-advanced therapeutic options providing best doctors in their respective fields. The Valerie Centers offer care in the outpatient clinical setting at both the Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown Memorial and at Overlook Hospital. Patients may also be admitted to the pediatric units at these hospitals. Much of the treatment may be done in the outpatient center. The center is a child friendly atmosphere where children undergoing treatment may be involved in activities with the child life specialist. They may play video games, watch DVD’s, do arts and crafts projects, and interact with other patients. |
