Preparing for Surgery

Understanding what to expect before, during and after surgery will decrease anxiety, make your stay more pleasant and even improve your recovery.

We realize how difficult this time can be. It is our goal to provide you with detailed instructions to properly prepare you for your surgery. Your questions and concerns are important to the staff at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Please feel free to discuss them with any member of your health care team.

Morristown Memorial provides the full range of services your surgery requires. Our staff is made up of highly skilled physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who will support your physical and emotional needs. State-of-the-art equipment is used to monitor your health before, during and after your surgery.

You will either be admitted to Morristown Memorial the same day of surgery (SDA) or have the surgery and go home on the same day (ambulatory surgery).

  • SDA patients are admitted to Morristown Memorial on the day of surgery and stay at least one night in the hospital.
