Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Morristown Memorial Hospital’s mission is to train our residents to provide care that is compassionate, patient-centered, ethical and evidence-based. Whether as generalists or specialists, our graduates will be able to interact with community-based and academic physicians; advocate for patients from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; and practice self-directed learning each day.

Our dynamic training program features:

  • Dedicated faculty with a commitment to resident education
  • Expert subspecialists
  • Diversity of cases and pathology in both acute care and chronic disease spectra
  • Numerous ancillary services to facilitate care and learning
  • A laboratory equipped with mannequins and a SimMan simulated patient to help train residents in emergency management and procedural skills
  • Excellent location in a mild four-season climate
  • Continual program assessment and improvement by residents and faculty
  • Robust evaluations process
  • Online curriculum and learning resources
  • Resident autonomy in patient care
  • Comprehensive core conference series for Board preparation and career planning
  • Workshops and retreats

With nearly thirty years of experience in medical education, I have found that residents themselves are key in creating a strong educational structure. The personal and professional needs of residents continually evolve over time. Our hands-on approach personalizes the potentially regimented process of graduate medical education and ensures that the needs of each individual are prioritized, rather than those of the hospital or the program.
