Life After Residency

  Life after Residency

Residents in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Morristown Memorial Hospital spend a significant amount of time and energy deciding on their options for the future. While some seek fellowships, others decide to go into hospitalist medicine or primary care. Still, others seek out research options and hospital administration careers.

Our program works to provide residents with tools to help make this decision process easier, including the Fellowship Workshop and the Career Workshop. The agenda of these workshops is different each year, as they meet the needs expressed by the current residency classes. In general, one week per year is designated "Career Week" and features guest speakers at noon lectures to provide information on many aspects of "life after residency," including different medical careers, negotiating contracts, medical societies and research.
