Morristown Memorial HospitalThe Internal Medicine Residency Program at Morristown Memorial Hospital's main training site is the hospital itself. We are a growing tertiary referral center, and the diversity of pathology is impressive. In fact, we often say, "we are a university hospital in a community hospital setting."

New Jersey is one of the most religiously and ethnically diverse states in the country and a large percentage of the population are African American, Hispanic, Asian and Arab. Though Newark and Camden are two of the poorest cities in the country, New Jersey has the highest median household income of any state. New Jersey is also the most densely populated state, and is the only state in the country to have every one of its counties labeled "urban" by the Census Bureau, even though many areas of the state, including the Morristown area, feature acre after acre of farms and woodlands.

Consequently, our patients come from the complete spectrum of socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds; have traveled all over the world; speak a variety of languages; and display an array of medical conditions. Morristown Memorial residents are exposed to as broad a range of patients as medical students in Manhattan, Los Angeles, or Chicago.

Morristown Memorial Hospital is home to nine separate residency programs. A 693-licensed bed hospital, Morristown Memorial serves patients from all socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnicities.  The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute, which opened in 2008, is where our top-rated cardiology program takes center stage. The recently expanded Carol G. Simon Cancer Center is home to men's and women's cancer programs, a breast center, radiation oncology, private hematology and oncology office suites, and multiple ancillary services to benefit its patients. Morristown Memorial has been designated a Level I Regional Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, and is recognized as a Level II Center by the state of New Jersey.
