A Day in the Life of a Resident
Bedside work rounds on the inpatient units Residents discuss each patient on their service, as well as the daily plan and progress. The team consists of first year residents and medical students who are supervised by senior residents and the chief resident. 6:45 - 7:15am General inpatient care First year residents utilize this hour to communicate with the attendings and subspecialists who are rounding on their patients. This is the perfect opportunity to review findings, management and the plan for the day. Labor and delivery management plans for each patient are made during the turnover of the board at 7:00am. 7:30am Obstetrics scheduled cases also start at 7:30am, and the flow is dictated by the number and type of patients that are on the unit at any one time. 1:00 - 4:00pm 5:00pm- 8:00am |
