Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

If you're a diabetic with a wound that's been difficult to heal or a cancer patient who's undergone radiation therapy, the Hyperbaric Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital may be beneficial for you. Our center offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) — a non-invasive medical treatment that delivers oxygen at much higher than normal atmospheric pressure, increasing the amount of oxygen being carried by the blood to organs and tissues, thereby enhancing the body's ability to heal itself.

Our program is staffed by board-certified physicians trained in hyperbaric medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine and toxicology, as well as hyperbaric oxygen certified nurses. Our center features two hyperbaric chambers used primarily for wound care, carbon monoxide poisoning, crush injuries from trauma, healing diabetic wounds and injured tissue from cancer radiation therapy. We provide more than 1,900 HBOT treatments each year.

Morristown Memorial Hospital was the first hyperbaric facility in New Jersey to be accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, reflecting the facility’s commitment to quality. This accreditation ensures that our hyperbaric medicine facility is staffed with well-trained specialists, uses quality equipment that has been properly installed, maintained and operated, and provides high quality patient care and safety.
