Regional Stroke Network

This year more than 700,000 people in the United States will suffer a stroke.  The Stroke Centers at Overlook Hospital and Morristown Memorial Hospital -- designated Comprehensive Stroke Centers by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services -- anchor a regional network of over a dozen Primary Stroke Center hospitals in northwestern New Jersey.  The network allows Atlantic Health neurophysicians to share state-of-the-art stroke diagnostic and treatment technologies with colleagues at other institutions, enabling them to incorporate the most effective practices from all facilities and offer patients the best stroke treatment available in the region. As the network evolves, more hospitals will be added.

As a recipient of the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Centers, Atlantic Health's stroke centers exemplify the national standard of excellence established for stroke treatment centers. The Joint Commission is governed by a board of physicians, nurses and consumers, and sets the standards by which health care quality is measured in America and around the world.  Certification is based on a thorough assessment of a program's processes, and its ability to evaluate and improve care within its own organization, as well as interviews with patients and staff.
