Diagnostics and Treatment Options

Our multidisciplinary program offers conventional diagnosis and treatment options, as well as some of the area's most sophisticated health care technology to care for patients with brain tumors, including:

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with diffusion and perfusion imaging: provides detailed, cross-sectional images of structure in the brain, enabling earlier diagnosis and treatment

  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery: delivers a highly concentrated dose of radiation precisely to the selected tumor to shrink the tissue or stop its growth, optimizing treatment safety, reducing operation time and decreasing the length of hospitalization and recovery

  • Image Guided Neurosurgery: uses the guidance of MRI or CT scans to assist surgeons in treating tumors

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials offer new treatments for eligible patients with malignant brain tumors. The treatments have received full review by the Overlook Hospital Institutional Review Board. Eligible conditions include newly diagnosed glioblastoma, malignant astrocytoma, recurrent malignant astrocytoma and mixed tumors. For more details regarding the latest clinical trial information and treatment options, please contact the Brain Tumor Center of New Jersey at 908-522-5843.
