Faculty

In addition to the full-time faculty members profiled below, eight community-based family physicians precept part-time; and a nutritionist, psychiatrist, child psychologist, radiologist and over a dozen medical specialists regularly contribute to our core curriculum.


Susan T. Kaye, MD FAAFP
Dr. Kaye is medical director and designated institutional official in the Division of Academic Affairs for Atlantic Health and chair for the Department of Family Medicine at Overlook Hospital.  She is associate dean for Atlantic Health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and associate professor of medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  In her role as medical director of Academic Affairs, her responsibilities include strategic planning for medical education and oversight for 10 residency programs.

Dr. Kaye earned her Bachelor’s of Science in biology, with honors, from Brown University in Providence, RI.  After completing her Doctor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine in New York City, she completed her residency in family medicine at Overlook Hospital, where she was chief resident. Her fellowship in faculty development was completed at the Family Practice Faculty Development Center of Texas in Waco.  Dr. Kaye served as director of the Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program from 1990-2003.

Dr. Kaye’s special medical interests include global health, pediatrics, adolescent health, and women’s health care, including office-based gynecologic procedures.  Dedicated to promoting volunteerism among medical professionals, Dr. Kaye directs the Benjamin H. Josephson, MD Fund which provides financial support for medical volunteers who care for patients in underserved communities throughout the world. She is a board member of Shoulder to Shoulder, Inc., a nongovernmental international health organization that provides medical, dental and nutritional care to patients in developing countries, with a specific focus on Honduras.   Dr. Kaye has maintained a family practice in the Overlook community for more than 22 years, and continues to teach both residents and medical students.

Joseph Tribuna, MD
Dr. Tribuna is director of Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program. He is a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey; member of the Overlook Hospital Performance Improvement Committee and the Atlantic Health Information Systems Committee; and board member of Vista Independent Practitioners Association (IPA). He is a graduate of St. John's University (Bachelor’s of Arts) and SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Doctor of Medicine). Dr. Tribuna completed his residency in family medicine at Overlook Hospital, where he was chief resident.  He is also a graduate of the National Institute for Program Director Development.

Dr. Tribuna joined the Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program as clinical faculty and was director of ambulatory services before assuming his current position as director. His special areas of interest include practice management, evidence-based medicine and continuous quality improvement/performance improvement of medical systems. He is a board member of Berkeley Heights Educational Foundation.

E.T. Holland, MD
Dr. Holland is an associate director of Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program, clinical assistant professor of family medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, from which he holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University and Doctor of Medicine from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.

After completing his residency in family medicine at Overlook Hospital, he served as a physician volunteer for the National Health Service Corps in practice on Chincoteague Island, VA.  Dr. Holland then joined the Department of Family Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. He returned to Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program as faculty, before assuming his current position as associate director.

Tersh Murdock, DO
Dr. Murdock is an associate director of Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program, director of the program's osteopathic rotating internship and clinical assistant professor of family medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). A graduate of Wagner College (Bachelor’s of Science) and UMDNJ (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), Dr. Murdock completed his residency in Family Medicine at Overlook Hospital, and then joined the program as faculty before assuming his current position as associate director.

His areas of special interest include minor office and surgical procedures, dermatology and osteopathic manipulative therapy.

Janice Baker, MD
Dr. Baker is clinical faculty at Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program and clinical assistant professor of family medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. A diplomat of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, she is medical director of Atlantic Home Care and Hospice. She received a Bachelor’s of Arts from Stanford University and a Doctor of Medicine from Chicago Medical School/University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Baker completed her residency in family medicine at Overlook Hospital, where she was chief resident.

She developed and mentors Overlook's Hospice Home Visiting Program for Overlook Family Medicine residents and is an Education for Physicians in End of Life Care (EPEC) trainer.

Amy Gruber, MD
Dr. Gruber is clinical faculty at Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program and clinical assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science from Brown University and her Doctor of Medicine from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, before doing her residency in family medicine at Overlook Hospital. Prior to joining the residency program faculty, she was medical director of Seton Hall University Health Services.

Her areas of special interest include adolescent and school health. She directs school health services for the school districts of Summit and Chatham; won a national award for directing Overlook Family Medicine's implementation of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) “Tar Wars” youth tobacco prevention project; and coordinates our residents' work with “Medfest” for Special Olympics.

Amy Gruber, MD

Steven M. Levine, DO
Dr. Levine received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Marietta College, OH. He continued on to medical school and graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, MO. He interned and completed his family medicine residency at JFK Hospital (UMDNJ/SOM) in Stratford, NJ. After completing a family medicine faculty development course at Michigan State University, he joined his grandfather and father in their family practice in Bayonne, NJ, where he now practices (with his brother and cousin).

Recently appointed director of the Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency (in the dually-accredited - osteopathic and allopathic - program) at Overlook Hospital, Dr. Levine encourages osteopathic residents and students to use manual medicine (osteopathic manipulation) as often as possible. Dr. Levine has served as a nursing home and hospice director, and is currently a school physician. He won an award as Hudson County Home Care Physician of the Year and has served as past president of the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Family Practitioners.

                              

Rhona Magaril, MD
Dr. Magaril is clinical faculty at Overlook Family Medicine Residency program. She and her associates provide precepting for the Family Medicine Obstetric Continuity Clinic. Dr. Magaril is also responsible for a weekly Family Medicine lecture series on obstetric and gynecologic topics. Dr. Magaril obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts from Barnard College and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Dr. Magaril's special medical interests include cervical cancer screening and prevention, colposcopy, and gynecologic surgery, including minimally invasive surgery. Recently, she has expanded her interests to include global health. She has traveled to Peru with a group of volunteers to provide cervical cancer screening and preventive services to the underserved women of the Andes. The group has recently formed a nonprofit organization, the International Cervical Cancer Foundation (INCCA). Dr. Magaril is secretary general of INCCA, which plans expanded volunteer efforts in Peru in the future.

Elizabeth Fagan, MD 
Dr. Fagan, a member of the clinical faculty at Overlook Family Practice Residency Program, is an expert in women's health and pediatric medicine.  After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts from Harvard and a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, she enrolled in the Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program where she was Chief Resident. Prior to joining the clinical faculty at Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Fagan managed the Women's Health curriculum in the Mountainside Hospital Family Practice Residency Program.

Stuart Green, DMH, LCSW
Dr. Green is an associate director of Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program, the behavioral sciences director at Overlook Hospital and a clinical instructor of family medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Arts from City College of New York, a Master’s of Social Work from Yeshiva University School of Social Work, NY, a Master’s of Arts in Psychology from Hunter College, NY, and a Doctorate in Medical Humanities from Drew University in Madison, NJ.

Dr. Green has helped develop hospital and community programs addressing tobacco use, domestic violence, bioethics and palliative care, and childhood bullying. He is a consultant to the Overlook Hospital Palliative Care Program, a member of its Bioethics Committee and edits the hospital’s monthly palliative care newsletter. He founded and directs a statewide network of groups addressing childhood bullying, and is a board member of the state’s Child Assault Prevention program. His grant-funded work includes developing a guide for family caregivers and a breast cancer training project for residents led by women with breast cancer. Publications include an edited volume of the writings of Overlook Family Medicine founder Donald F. Kent, MD, PhD, professional articles and three novels. Before coming to Overlook, Dr. Green held a variety of social work and psychologist positions in New York, including at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital.

Carol Weiss, C-NP
Ms. Weiss, a nurse practitioner, coordinates the nursing home, geriatrics and home visit training program for Overlook Family Medicine residents. She is president of the Forum of Nurses in Advance Practice in New Jersey. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona and a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Columbia University, NY. Ms. Weiss’s professional interests include fall prevention and treatment in the elderly.
