Creating the Green Hospital

Consumers nationwide are increasingly concerned with preserving our natural resources and so is Atlantic Health. Our goal is to pursue recycling and energy saving policies to the fullest extent whenever possible – from grassroots employee efforts to large-scale construction projects, we are doing our best to treat our environment with respect:

  • The new and expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Morristown Memorial Hospital is certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) project by the US Green Building Council. LEED-certified construction projects use materials and finishes with more natural or recycled fibers and more energy-efficient ventilation systems.

  • Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Memorial is certified by the Green Guide for Healthcare.

  • Parents can take advantage of our Go Baby Green parent education classes at Overlook Hospital, which offer information about creating a non-toxic environment for baby.

  • Our Go Green team, comprised of Atlantic Health employees, initiates and reports on eco-friendly projects throughout our health care system.

  • Atlantic Health provides carpooling services and incentives to our employees.

  • Atlantic Health’s environmental services departments use Green Seal-certified cleaning products, wherever possible.

  • Atlantic Health offers free monthly e-newsletters from Morristown Memorial, Overlook and Goryeb Children’s Hospital – My Atlantic Health News a paper-free, electronic publication.
