Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
At the Wound Healing Program at Overlook Hospital, we offer Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), a non-invasive medical treatment that uses pressurized oxygen to enhance your body’s natural healing process to aid in healing wounds. The treatment is administered by placing the patient in a comfortable chamber that circulates pure oxygen at two to three times atmospheric pressure.

Diabetics with difficult-to-heal wounds or cancer patients who have undergone radiation therapy may benefit from HBOT. Specifically, HBOT can be used to treat:

  • Diabetic wounds
  • Radiation bladder and/or bowel problems
  • Radiation wounds
  • Crush wounds
  • Head and neck cancer patients that need oral surgery
  • Problem wounds
  • Chronic bone infections
  • Threatened skin grafts and flaps
