Child Life Program

The Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital provides children and teens, whose parent or loved one has cancer, the opportunity to participate in our special Child Life Program. This unique service allows young family members to meet with a child life specialist to help them cope with family illness, hospitalization, outpatient medical interventions and other concerns that may arise from cancer diagnosis or treatment.

Services available through the Child Life Program at Carol G. Simon Cancer Center:

  • Individual sessions focusing on processing and expressing emotions
  • Therapeutic play utilizing special toys, creative arts and other activities
  • Specialized parent training workshops
  • Sibling play sessions
  • Support groups
  • Child-centered and cognitive-behavioral parent training
  • Guidance related to discussing cancer with children or teens
