Lymphedema Program

Lymphedema is a chronic condition that involves swelling of the limbs or other body parts, and impacts physical and psychosocial health. It is a side effect most often linked to treatments for breast, prostate and pelvic area cancers, as well as lymphoma and melanoma.

The Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital offers a lymphedema program in our infusion center. Treatment involves specialized massage techniques designed to stimulate the lymph system, compression bandaging and garments, skin care, home exercise programs, and patient education to maximize mobility, function and independence.

Specially-trained and certified occupational and physical therapists work closely to customize an appropriate treatment plan for each patient.
