Internship in Child Life
Atlantic Health System offers internships throughout the year to meet all the standards for child life certification.
Requirements and Responsibilities of our Child Life Internship Program:
- Each intern must have obtained or be enrolled in the senior year of bachelors' or masters' program in a field related to child development, such as early childhood education, special education, psychology, etc.
- Required courses include topics related to the following (at least 10 courses total, not necessarily on all topics; i.e. can be more than one course on a topic related to child development):
- Child development
- Child life
- Education
- Counseling
- Expressive therapies
- Family dynamics
- Family development
- Psychology
- Therapeutic recreation
- A completed coursework review with the Child Life Council is required to verify eligibility for certification
- Every intern must have a minimum of 75 hours of prior volunteer experience with children and families in an established child life program in a pediatric setting
- Interns must complete all requirements of volunteer department (health assessment, purified protein derivative (PPD) tuberculosis testing, application, volunteer identification)
