At Atlantic Health System, our vision is to empower our communities to be the healthiest in the nation. To that end, we believe that being healthy – mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually – requires more than just treating sickness; it takes a full commitment to preventative medicine. That’s why we created the Atlantic Center for Population Health Sciences, which assesses the health of our communities and works with local organizations to address their wellness needs.
The Center coordinates the community health departments at each of our hospitals and provides data, evaluation and support throughout our health system and accountable care organization. We are responsible for:
- Evidence-based preventive programs designed to limit the incidence of avoidable illness and injury
- Partnerships with diverse community organizations to ensure that the places in which people live, learn, work, play and pray actively promote health
- Research on population health management and data analysis, such as our Community Health Needs Assessment
- Professional education and training through workshops, seminars, internships and practice opportunities
