


Gregory J. Mulford, MD, is medical director of Rehabilitation Services for Atlantic Health System and chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Morristown Medical Center. In addition, he is medical director of the Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute. He is an attending physician at Morristown and Overlook medical centers. A clinician, physician leader and devoted teacher, Dr. Mulford is clinical associate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) - New Jersey Medical School. He is in private practice with Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine in Morristown, New Jersey and is team physician for many local high schools and universities.
Dr. Mulford earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, and his Doctor of Medicine at the UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. He completed his internship at Overlook Medical Center and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital under the auspices of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was chief resident.
Dr. Mulford's clinical and research interests are focused on electrodiagnosis and sports medicine. He is the author or coauthor of many articles, which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Journal of Orthopedic Research, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has delivered numerous local, regional and national invited presentations in his field.
Dr. Mulford's philosophy of care is to "add quality to life by recognizing that each person is an individual with unique qualities, characteristics, problems and solutions -- go beyond the treatment of symptoms; take the time to identify and treat the underlying causes of an individual's problem by establishing a focused and specific treatment plan; restore function and improve performance in order to enhance quality of life."
Dr. Mulford is a fellow and Professional Practice Committee member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Additionally, he is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, Medical Society of New Jersey, Morris County Medical Society, and the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Medical Advisory Committee. Dr. Mulford is the recipient of many honors and awards, including the prestigious Health Management Academy General Electric Fellowship that recognizes and develops physician leaders and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. New Jersey Monthly lists him among "Top Doctors in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation" in the New York Metropolitan area, and the Consumers Research Council of America lists him among top physicians for physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is also listed in Best Doctors in America.
