

Patrick Culligan, MD, is director and attending urogynecologist in the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center.
A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Dr. Culligan earned his MD at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. His residency in obstetrics and gynecology was completed at Greenville Hospital under the auspices of the University of South Carolina. His fellowship in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery was completed at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Evanston Continence Center and Northwestern University Medical School in Illinois.
A nationally recognized expert on innovative, minimally invasive robotics techniques for urogynecologic surgery, Dr. Culligan brings his unique skills to the patients at Atlantic Health System. He notes, “Urogynecologists have the opportunity to diagnose a patient's condition and plan her treatment based on lifestyle and preferences. Every patient has unique symptoms, disorders, and expectations. For this reason, treatment can and should be individualized and tailored to each patient. It's rewarding to follow patients after treatment and see them enjoying their improved quality of life.” Physicians from all over the United States attend Dr. Culligan's courses in urogynecologic robotics at Morristown Medical. His courses at Atlantic Health System and those offered by Duke University are the only such programs in the United States.
Dr. Culligan is the author or coauthor of books, book chapters, articles and abstracts concerning a wide range of topics in gynecology and obstetrics. His articles and abstracts are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Journal of Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, among others. An editorial board member for Obstetrics and Gynecology, he is an ad hoc reviewer for 12 scientific journals, including the International Journal of Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Evidence Based Obstetrics and Gynecology, and International Journal of Epidemiology.
Dr. Culligan is a seasoned speaker who has delivered many local, regional, national and international invited presentations in his field. A fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American College of Surgeons, he is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, American Urogynecologic Society, International Urogynecology Association, Jefferson County Medical Society, and Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology. Dr. Culligan is co-founder of the Atlantic Health System Urogynecology Fellowship Program. He is a recipient of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Award in Infectious Diseases and University of South Carolina Thompson A. Gailey Award for Academic Achievement. In addition, he was recently added to Castle Connolly's Top Doctors for the New York Metro Area.
