Newton, NJ, May 2013 – It will be a night of food and music worthy of “Ol’ Blue Eyes,” when Newton Medical Center Foundation’s An Evening of Wine & Roses, A Wine and Gourmet Cuisine Tasting is held on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 5:30 to 9:30pm at Centenary College’s David and Carol Lackland Center.
Proceeds from the event, which annually brings together some of the finest restaurants, wineries and other cuisines from throughout north and western New Jersey, will this year support the Newton Medical Center Foundation’s IMAGINE capital campaign.
This year’s event will feature a special VIP Room appearance and cooking demonstration by Celebrity Chef Salvatore (Sal) Scognamillo, Executive Chef & Co-owner of Patsy’s Italian Restaurant, between 5:30 and 7:00pm.
Founded in 1944 by his grandfather Pasquale (shortened to Patsy at Ellis Island in 1923), Patsy's Italian Restaurant has been known for years as Frank Sinatra's favorite restaurant, and in fact, his family still enjoys dining at Patsy's Italian Restaurant whenever they are in town. In addition to Sinatra and family, Patsy's Italian Restaurant has become a favorite with countless stars on both the east and west coast, who have come to regard Patsy's Italian Restaurant as a mecca of Italian fine dining.
A renowned author, Chef Sal has been featured in many publications such as The New York Times, Esquire, America West, Travel Agent Magazine, New York Post, New York Daily News, Crain’s New York Business and has made numerous appearances on national television including The TV Food Network, ABC’s “Live with Regis & Kathie Lee” and CBS Sunday Morning.
The VIP Room is made possible by RoNetco Supermarkets, Inc., and Wakefern Food Corporation.
In a further nod to Sinatra, guests will be entertained throughout the evening by vocalist Steven Maglio, known for his rendition of Sinatra hits which he regularly performs at New York’s Carnegie Club.
The evening will be emceed by Katie McGee, WLNY 10/55’s “Live from the Couch,” Health and Wellness Reporter. McGee rejoined the station, part of CBS New York, in 2007 and guided Tri-State viewers through their morning commutes as traffic reporter. In her first stint at CBS 2 from 2002 to 2005, McGee reported on entertainment and features.
She received a New York Press Club Award for Best Entertainment Reporting for the 2004 special, “CBS 2 at the Tonys.”
Community members are also invited to purchase raffle tickets for a September trip for two to San Francisco, including airfare, hotel and more, and the evening’s 50/50.
