Nearly 1,000 licensed physicians in New Jersey participated in the online survey by Castle Connolly, which was distributed in fall 2010. Physicians cast a total of nearly 19,000 votes on the treatment of specific medical conditions and top overall hospitals in the state. The results were divided into two categories: hospitals with more than 350 beds and those with less than 350 beds.
