August 2015, Newton, NJ – Thomas N. Ryan, a partner of a prominent Sussex County-based law firm, with extensive knowledge and experience in employment and commercial issues, was recently named as a member of the Newton Medical Center Foundation’s board of trustees.
Mr. Ryan is an employment and commercial litigator who is focused on the representation of management and individuals in both private and public sectors. He has a considerable amount of experience representing clients in employment and commercial issues. He also serves as outside general counsel to corporations, municipalities and business on litigation, commercial agreements, corporate compliance and strategic planning. Mr. Ryan also reviews and prepares personnel policies and handbooks, conducts investigations into employee complaints, provides harassment and discrimination training and counsels clients on all employment issues.
In addition to the Newton Medical Center Foundation board, Mr. Ryan’s contributions to Sussex County also include serving on the board of trustees for the Sussex County Economic Development Partnership, serving as the human resources committee chair for the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, and as secretary and scholarship committee chair on the board of trustees for the 200 Club of Sussex County. He is also involved in the community of Mountain Lakes in Morris County, serving as past president of the board of the Lakers Sports Club, as a member and past president of the Mountain Lakes Board of Education, and serving on the boards and as legal counsel to both the Medical Needs Foundation and the Mountain Lakes Educational Foundation.
Mr. Ryan received his bachelor’s degree at Montclair State University, a master of education degree from Harvard University, and his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. He is also a Lyndon Baines Johnson Fellow as well as a Fulbright-Hays Fellow.

The Foundation’s board of trustees is responsible for providing direction and oversight for the overall strategic plan for the foundation. There are currently 26 members of the board of trustees.
