New Trustees Join Foundation for Morristown Medical Center Board

January 30, 2015, Morristown, NJ – The Foundation for Morristown Medical Center has recently appointed highly renowned business, real estate and medical leaders to its board of trustees, including Peter J. Cocoziello of Oldwick, Dr. Stanley B. Fiel of Chester, Carl  J. Goldberg of Randolph, and Dr. Karen M. Knops of Summit. The board also elected Frank E. Walsh, Jr., and his wife Mary D. Walsh of Morristown as honorary trustees. Dr. Grant Van Siclen Parr of Morristown was appointed a trustee emeritus.

  • Peter J. Cocoziello is president and CEO of Advance Realty, which specializes in real estate development, construction and property management.  Mr. Cocoziello received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is past president of the Young Presidents’ Organization, the New Jersey National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and past chairman of New Jersey Network. He and his wife, Sharon, have three sons and are generous donors to the Chambers Center for Well Being and Carol G. Simon Cancer Center.

  • Stanley B. Fiel, MD, an internist and pulmonologist, is the Department of Medicine Chairman for Morristown Medical Center and the Regional Chairman for Atlantic Health System. He serves as a professor of medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Drexel University College of Medicine. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Dr. Fiel earned his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Judie, have three children. Dr. and Mrs. Fiel are supporters of the $100 million Campaign 3SIXTY at Morristown Medical Center.

  • Carl J. Goldberg is a managing member of Canoe Brook Investors, LLC. He previously served as president of Roseland Property Company, a division of Mack-Cali Realty. Mr. Goldberg is past president of the Community Builders Association of NJ.  He has been an active member of the National Association of Homebuilders since 1984. Mr. Goldberg has two daughters. He graciously donated monies toward integrative medicine at Carol G. Simon Cancer Center in memory of his beloved wife, Mary Ellen, for the care she received while being treated for cancer.

  • Karen M. Knops, MD,has served as founder and medical director of the Palliative Care Program at Morristown Medical Center and as medical director of Atlantic Home Care and Hospice. She also serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Knops earned her MD at UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Knops has been helpful in fundraising efforts for the new Nancy and Skippy Weinstein Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Morristown Medical Center.

  • Frank E. Walsh, Jr. and Mary D. Walsh were elected honorary trustees and have a long legacy as generous donors to the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Walsh currently serve on the board of the Sandy Hill Foundation, which provides support for education, particularly higher education, social services and health. A graduate of Lehigh University, Mr. Walsh also serves on the board of Seton Hall Preparatory School and Covenant House of New Jersey. Mrs. Walsh serves on the boards of the Kennedy Center’s National Committee for the Performing Arts and the Palm Beach Dramaworks Theatre.

  • Grant Van Siclen Parr, MD, physician-in-chief at Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute, was appointed trustee emeritus. The founder of the Cardiac Surgery Program at Morristown Medical Center and a former Foundation for Morristown Medical Center trustee, Dr. Parr has been a donor to the hospital for many years.
