New Trustees Join Foundation for Morristown Medical Center Board

January 22, 2016, Morristown, NJ – A new group of prominent local leaders in medicine, information technology, business and philanthropy have joined the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center’s board of trustees, including Dr. Elizabeth A. Clemente of Skillman, Marianne Ehinger of Morristown, Dr. James P. Slater of Basking Ridge, Robert Tafaro of Mendham and Mary Anne Wood of Chatham. J. Peter Simon of Harding was appointed a trustee emeritus by the board.

Dr. Elizabeth A. Clemente is chairman of the Department of Dentistry at Morristown Medical Center. Dr. Clemente received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Case Western Reserve University. She is past president of the Academy of General Dentistry Foundation. Dr. Clemente has three children and is a generous donor to Campaign 3SIXTY, a $100 million initiative to improve various areas of the hospital.

Marianne Ehinger is a philanthropist and community volunteer who currently serves on the Women’s Health Philanthropy Council at Morristown Medical Center. A 1980 graduate of Drew University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, Mrs. Ehinger is a long-time supporter of the hospital’s inpatient integrative medicine program. She and her husband, Tony, have three children and have given generously to the Chambers Center for Well Being.

Dr. James P. Slater is a cardiac surgeon and the surgical director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at Morristown Medical Center. A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Dr. Slater received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His non-medical work experiences include internships in the US House of Representatives and the House of Commons, London, England. He and his wife, Fiona, have three children.

Robert Tafaro is the president and CEO of GAF, a company based in Parsippany and the largest manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing in North America. Mr. Tafaro received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky. He serves on the boards of GAF and the Building Materials Corporation of America. He and his wife, Catherine, are gracious donors of Morristown Medical Center.

Mary Anne Wood is a philanthropist and community volunteer who currently serves as a member of the Pediatric Philanthropy Council at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.  Mrs. Wood received her bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and her juris doctor degree from New York University School of Law. She and her husband, Ray, have three children and are generous contributors to Campaign 3SIXTY toward the Joan and Edward Foley Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Child Development and Autism Center.

J. Peter Simon was elected trustee emeritus. He is past president of the Foundation Board and holds a long legacy as a volunteer and loyal donor to Morristown Medical Center. Along with his wife, Janet, he has helped to raise significant funds, build programs and expand major centers of excellence at the hospital. Mr. Simon co-founded William E. Simon & Sons along with his late father, former Treasury Secretary William E. Simon and his brother, Bill Simon, Jr., in 1988. He currently serves as co-chairman of the firm. He and Janet have four children.

The Foundation for Morristown Medical Center is a nonprofit public foundation whose mission is to inspire community philanthropy to advance exceptional health care for patients at Morristown Medical Center. Our objective is to use philanthropy to preserve and expand the hospital’s programs and services in direct patient care, clinical research, medical and public health, education, and preventative medicine.
