Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center’s Cardiac Access Unit is dedicated to the care of patients who are arriving at the hospital on the morning of a cardiac or vascular procedure. Our 28-bed unit offers private rooms to prepare patients for surgery or cardiac procedures.
Families are welcome to visit patients prior to their procedure and stay in the spacious waiting area outside of the Cardiac Access Unit during the procedure.
The Cardiac Access Unit also provides care for patients who are transferring in from other facilities to Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute. The unit allows these patients to arrive in plenty of time to prepare for their procedure or surgery.
In addition, the Cardiac Access Unit discharges patients who are going home on the same day of their procedures. The nursing staff, working in collaboration with the physicians, ensures that all physical, emotional and educational needs for patients and families are met.
