Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute offers innovative treatments for structural heart disease, including minimally invasive and robotic surgeries that minimize scarring, reduce recovery time and improve outcomes. We are the only facility in New Jersey to offer the groundbreaking, minimally invasive CoreValve, a transcatheter valve implant for patients with severe aortic valve stenosis, and MitraClip surgery for patients with severe mitral valve leakage.
Our new state-of-the-art facility features two specially designed hybrid operating suites that can be used for both complex catheter procedures and conventional open-heart and vascular surgical procedures. Minimally invasive surgery enables patients to undergo advanced cardiovascular repair procedures with as little as one overnight stay; occasionally patients may even be ready to leave the hospital the same day. Using three-dimensional echocardiography, our surgeons perform transesophageal procedures and minimal surgical interventions for patients with large aneurysms and heart failure.
Our physicians participate in national and international studies on new stent designs, as well as procedures to maximize outcomes for high-risk patients who undergo percutaneous coronary interventions. We have pioneered state-of-the-art techniques such as rotational atherectomy and minimally invasive surgery for atrial septal heart defects.
In partnership with our colleagues at Atlantic Neuroscience Institute, we offer an integrated stroke management program for patients with cryptogenic stroke and patent foramen ovale (PFO). When clinically indicated, Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute patients with first or second stroke (recurrent stroke despite medical management) can participate in FDA-approved studies.
