Our family would like you to know that we felt the attention our son received was exceptional. We appreciate your teamwork and attention to critical care details…We will always remember you.
Liza Glasser
mother of Goryeb Children’s Hospital PICU and Respiratory Center for Children patient
The Pediatric Critical Care Service at the Goryeb Children's Hospital provides care to infants, children and adolescents with life-threatening illness and injury. Children are admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a nine-bed, state-of-the-art unit that allows for continuous monitoring of respiratory, cardiac and neurological functions. The single patient rooms were created to allow easy access for radiological studies such as x-ray and ultrasound. Computerized equipment allows for instant review of radiologic studies and laboratory test results.
Each child has their own private room with telephones, Internet access, televisions, and VCR, CD, DVD and Play Station players. Parents may choose to sleep at their child's bedside in a pull-out bed chair or rest in specially designed Ronald McDonald sleeping rooms that are attached to the PICU. These rooms are equipped with a separate bathroom and shower area. A family waiting room area provides snacks, coffee, juice, refrigerator, television and a computer with Internet access.
