Eating disorders are complex and typically involve psychological, family, social, nutritional, and medical issues. At the Eating Disorders Program at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, we believe that treatment must address all of these factors to be effective. By providing comprehensive outpatient and inpatient services in a family-focused environment, we aim to not only treat a child or adolescent’s eating disorder, but also to restore his or her physical and emotional well-being.
Our program offers outpatient services so that our patients can remain close to home and their families can fully participate in the recovery process. We provide medical monitoring, nutritional counseling, psychiatric and psychosocial consultations, Family-Based Treatment, an intensive outpatient program and a partial hospitalization program.
Our Eating Disorders Program also provides services for those patients who are too medically fragile to participate in our outpatient programs and require a hospital stay. Treatment includes medical stabilization, meal supervision and psychological evaluation. Once physically able, these patients may be transitioned to our partial hospitalization program.
The Eating Disorders Program is located at Goryeb Children’s Center at Overlook Medical Center.
