Premature babies enter the world weighing as little as four sticks of butter and are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Thanks to advances in neonatal medicine, even the tiniest infants have a good chance to survive and grow into normal, healthy children.
At Atlantic Health System, we have neonatal intensive care units (NICU) at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center. They are designed for the care of medically unstable or critically ill newborns that require constant nursing care, complicated surgical procedures, continual respiratory support or other intensive interventions.
Both NICUs feature the most technologically advanced equipment available and a highly-trained multidisciplinary staff that includes neonatologists and perinatologists who work hand-in-hand to manage high-risk pregnancies and fetal problems prior to delivery.
