The Aresty Family Day Hospital is located on the first floor of the Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center. This outpatient unit cares for pediatric patients who are admitted for procedures that require sedation or special monitoring. Our experienced health care professionals strive to minimize anxiety for you and your child in our warm, family-centered environment.
Specially-trained physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other support staff will care for your child during his or her stay. Our nurse manager directs nursing care and is available to assist you with any questions or concerns.
In cooperation with your child’s physician, the pediatric nursing staff will help plan your child’s nursing care from admission to discharge. We will monitor his or her condition frequently while in the Aresty Day Hospital and teach you how to continue care once your child returns home. Some procedures may require overnight observation in the pediatric unit; this will be determined by your physician.
Procedures and testing can be a stressful experience for the entire family, and we encourage you to participate in your child’s care during their stay. Your presence will help to calm your child’s anxiety when he or she is faced with unfamiliar people, procedures, and surroundings.
