The faculty at Morristown Medical Center's Geriatric Fellowship includes:

Keerti Sharma, MBBS
Director, Geriatrics Fellowship Program
Director, Geriatric Assessment Center and Inpatient Geriatric Services at Morristown Medical Center
Dr. Sharma is board-certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and hospice and palliative care medicine, and has a keen interest in improving the care of the older adult in all care settings. She completed her training in geriatrics at New York University Medical Center and has been a faculty member at Rutgers Medical School, Newark and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York prior to joining Morristown Medical Center in 2011. Dr. Sharma is an associate professor in the Department of Geriatrics at the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine and is a fellow of the American Geriatrics Society. In addition, she is the current president of the NJ Chapter of American Medical Directors Association -The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine and the New Jersey Long Term Care Leaders Coalition.

Arthur Sheppell, MD
Chief, Morristown Medical Center Geriatrics
Dr. Sheppell is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, and has been in practice for more than 30 years. He completed his training in internal medicine at University Hospital (University of Medicine and Dentistry) in Newark, NJ and served as chief resident at the East Orange VA hospital. He has a keen interest in medical education and the delivery of care in the post-acute care arena with a model of care delivery through physician extenders.

Jessica Petilla, MD
Attending Physician
Dr. Petilla is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine, and specializes in geriatric syndromes and chronic illness management and disease prevention in older adults.  She completed her geriatric medicine fellowship at Hackensack University Medical Center and most recently served as associate chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s and Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospitals in New York City. Dr. Petilla also served as the medical director of the Department of Medicine Faculty Practice at these hospitals. Prior to these roles, she was the medical director for St. Luke’s Medical Group, fellowship director of the Debare Geriatrics Training Program and director for community-based geriatrics programs, which included community linkages and the hospital’s home visit program. Dr. Petilla is responsible for supervising fellows in the continuity clinic and inpatient experience. She will also mentor fellows in scholarly activities and be actively engaged in the didactic teaching/core curriculum experience.

Jason Prager, MD
Attending Physician
Board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, Dr. Prager specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia, and promotes a team-based approach to treating older adults and their caregivers. He completed his internal medicine training at Morristown Medical Center, followed by a two-year fellowship in geriatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Prager is responsible for supervising fellows during the continuity clinic, long-term care continuity experience and inpatient experience. In addition he is actively engaged in the didactic teaching/core curriculum experience and mentors fellows in scholarly activities.

Brenda Matti-Orozco, MD
Chief, General Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine at Morristown Medical Center
Dr. Matti-Orozco has a wealth of skills and experience in leadership and administration, research and grants management, and education and training of medical residents. She completed her internal medicine residency training at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center (SLRHC), New York and was chief medical resident. She then stayed on at SLRHC as faculty physician in the Division of General Medicine. She was later promoted to chief of the Division of Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine and also served as associate chief of the Division of General Medicine.
