Morristown Medical Center’s Emergency Medicine Research Elective is a four-week program available to medical students throughout the academic year.
This research elective offers medical students a challenging experience in one of two accredited emergency medicine residency programs in Northern New Jersey. All of our attending physicians are board-certified in emergency medicine. The department of emergency medicine sees approximately 80,000 patients per year.
Learn the basics of emergency medicine research.
- Structured one-on-one discussion and participation in on-going research projects and the genesis of new projects
- Statistics reading and discussion
- Research methodology; seminar – eight lectures, two per week
Students will complete a project and receive a formal, written evaluation for the entire program.

Before your rotation begins, please call our program coordinator, at 973-971-7926, for clearance and to schedule an elective. There are no prerequisites for our program and we accept two to four residents per rotation.
On the first day of rotations, please report to the Department of Emergency Medicine at Morristown Medical’s administrative offices by at 8:00am.
Please note, student housing is available on a first come, first serve basis.
