24-hour Crisis Intervention

The loss of a loved one, a traumatic event or a lifetime of unresolved personal problems can lead to a personal crisis. No matter the time of day, we're there to help. Available on-site at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center, or through a 24-hour crisis line, our round-the-clock services feature confidential support and treatment by professional crisis therapists.

Following an initial assessment and crisis stabilization session, patients are provided appropriate inpatient treatment or outpatient services.

Call 973-540-0100 for mental health and substance abuse emergencies.

Connecting Services
At times there is a gap between a crisis situation and getting connected with outpatient treatment. At Morristown Medical there is a program that is designed to bridge that gap so treatment can begin as soon as possible. If you or a loved one is in need of outpatient treatment for behavioral health issues, we can provide an expedited appointment with a therapist, begin identifying goals for treatment, and start counseling.

In addition, we will expedite risk assessments for children and adolescents who need clearance to return to school so you can avoid lengthy wait times in the emergency room.

For further information, call 973-971-5402.

Community Crisis and Trauma Services
When a traumatic or catastrophic event occurs – whether at school, work, the neighborhood or larger community, we're there to help survivors and witnesses and their families begin the healing process. Experts from community mental health centers and Morristown Medical arrive on the scene for crisis debriefing sessions.

Our intervention team also provides follow-up treatment and workshops for children, adolescents and adults who exhibit symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder.

Crisis and trauma services are available to parents, students, school officials, community groups and other organizations by calling our Crisis Intervention Hotline at 973-540-0100.
