Birth Partners and Visitors

The birth of a baby is an exciting time for new mothers and their birth partners, and the staff at Morristown Medical Center wants to make it as comfortable as possible for both of you.

Partners are welcome to take advantage of complimentary snacks in both Labor and Delivery and the Mother Baby Unit. Juice, soda, crackers, cookies, cereal, coffee and tea are available. Moms are treated to a special celebration meal the night before discharge.

Partners can also get a bite to eat at the cafeteria on floor B from 1:30am to 7:00pm every day. An Au Bon Pain is on the first floor off the lobby area and is open from 6:00am to 10:00pm.

Guest trays can be ordered for partners for a minimal charge. Please ask your nurse for guest tray information.

Your partner or support person is not considered a visitor. Beds are available in our beautiful private rooms for partners who wish to spend the night. Please wear appropriate clothing at all times. Showers are available in rooms.

Other amenities

  • Disposable cameras and other small items you may have forgotten are available for purchase in the gift shop on the first floor off the lobby.
  • ATMs are available in the Au Bon Pain on the first floor and outside the cafeteria on floor B.
  • Cell phones are allowed in your room or in the waiting room. They are not allowed in the recovery room or hallways. Please keep in mind privacy issues regarding your partner and the other patients.
  • Wireless access

Visitors

Visitors are welcome from Noon to 8:00pm. Siblings of the new baby are welcome, but other children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit. If the mother had a Cesarean Section, children are not allowed in the recovery room. If anyone has been ill, please ask him or her to refrain from visiting. All visitors need to sign in at the nurses’ station, and hand washing is a must for everyone. Mothers benefit the most when there is quiet time for them to rest and feed their babies.

We would like you to have a wonderful birth experience. If there are people you’d like to be a part of this experience, please let us know. Likewise, if there are people you do not want to be part of this experience, let us know.
