The Acne Treatment and Research Center believes in avoiding antibiotic use whenever possible in order to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.
Routine Skin Care Management
Skin care products have the potential to improve acne symptoms, enhance the skin barrier, reduce medication side effects and improve overall quality of life. Our specialists will discuss with patients which cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreens, cosmetics or hair care products may be right for them. When appropriate, cosmetic consultations will be offered and medical facials recommended.
Although the role that diet plays in acne is not yet fully understood, it is possible that dietary alterations could be beneficial. For that reason, probiotics, prebiotics and other supplements may be recommended.
There is some evidence that acne severity can be related to stress. Our dermatologists will evaluate each patient’s lifestyle and recommend stress reduction techniques as necessary.
Individual priorities and concerns are important when evaluating skin care options, and patients should always consult with their doctor before beginning any acne treatment.
