Crisis Intervention

Whether it’s a natural disaster, loss of a loved one or unresolved problems at work – sometimes personal anguish requires immediate attention. That’s why Atlantic Behavioral Health offers a crisis intervention service that includes a 24-hour hotline, a psychiatric emergency services and screening center, connecting services, and assistance during community traumas.

24-Hour Crisis Hotline

Our professional crisis therapists provide round-the-clock, confidential support and treatment for those in a mental health or substance abuse emergency. Following an initial assessment and crisis stabilization session, patients are provided appropriate inpatient care or outpatient therapy.

Psychiatric Emergency Services and Screening Center

Our center provides 24-hour emergency mental health care to patients of any age, available both over the phone and in person. Services include risk assessments, screenings, crisis intervention and stabilization, emergency psychiatry and referrals to other resources. The Psychiatric Emergency Services and Screening Center is available at Newton Medical Center.

Connecting Services

Sometimes there is a gap between when a crisis occurs and when a patient can begin receiving outpatient treatment. At Atlantic Behavioral Health, we can expedite an appointment with a therapist, so that those in need of assistance can begin identifying treatment goals and receive counseling as soon as possible. In addition, we can accelerate the risk assessment process for children and adults who need clearance to return to school. Connecting services are available through Morristown Medical Center for residents of Morris County.

Community Crisis and Trauma Services

When a traumatic or catastrophic event occurs – whether at school, work, the neighborhood or larger community – Atlantic Behavioral Health is there to help survivors, witnesses and their families begin the healing process. We provide crisis debriefing sessions at the scene of the accident and offer follow-up treatment and workshops for children, adolescents and adults with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Community crisis and trauma services are available through Morristown Medical Center for residents of Morris County.
