Morristown Medical Center: The Patient Experience
Morristown Medical Center
The birth of a baby is an exciting time for new mothers and their birth partners, and the staff at Morristown Medical Center wants to make it as comfortable as possible for both of you.
Partners are welcome to take advantage of complimentary snacks in both Labor and Delivery and the Mother Baby Unit. Juice, soda, crackers, cookies, cereal, coffee and tea are available. Moms are treated to a special celebration meal the night before discharge.
Partners can get a bite to eat at our cafeteria, Starbucks or a Starbucks-branded venue called Apple A Day Café. Hours and locations:
Guest trays can be ordered for partners for a minimal charge. Please ask your nurse for guest tray information.
Your partner or support person is not considered a visitor. Beds are available in our beautiful private rooms for partners who wish to spend the night. Please wear appropriate clothing at all times. Showers are available in rooms.
Visitors are welcome from Noon to 8:00pm. For infant security, adult visitors will be required to present photo identification and sign in prior to entering the Maternity Center. Your partner or support person is not considered a visitor – they may stay with the mother at all times, if desired. If the mother had a Cesarean Section, children are not allowed in the recovery room. Grandparents and siblings of the new baby may visit from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Children are welcome, but please ask family and friends to keep sick children at home to prevent the spread of infection. If anyone has been ill, please ask him or her to refrain from visiting. Hand washing is a must for everyone. Mothers benefit the most when there is quiet time for them to rest and feed their babies.
We would like you to have a wonderful birth experience. If there are people you would like to be a part of this experience, please let us know. Likewise, if there are people you do not want to be part of this experience, let us know.
