Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center’s Parent Education Departments offer an online childbirth class for expectant parents who are unable to attend on-site class or want further education. Our user-friendly, web-based program uses videos, personal stories, animations, activities and games to help soon-to-be parents prepare for the arrival of their new baby.
Online Childbirth Topics
Some of the material covered in our program includes:
- Pregnancy – bodily changes, discomforts, warning signs, nutrition and exercise
- Labor – preparing for birth, pre-labor signs and onset of labor, including a showcase of real-life birth stories
- Medical procedures – epidurals and cesarean sections
- Comfort techniques – breathing, relaxation, massage, visualization, focal points, hydrotherapy, labor and pushing positions, and advice for partners
Our online childbirth class works on both PCs and Macs with high-speed Internet access. The basic program costs $120 and includes access to the class and the ability to email the educator. The deluxe package costs $160 and offers the same features as the basic program, but also includes a private hospital tour and a one-hour, in-person question and answer session and labor rehearsal with one of our certified childbirth instructors.
Once registered, users will receive an access code that will be valid for 60 days following their initial login. Educational materials may be printed for future reference after the subscription ends. To sign-up, please contact the Parent Education Departments at Morristown and Overlook medical centers.
