The Breast Screening Center at Rockaway, located within the Morristown Medical Center Health Pavilion, provides high quality, state-of-the-art breast imaging and diagnostic services:
- Digital mammography – takes an electronic image of the breast using minimal radiation and stores it directly in a computer
- Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) or 3-D mammography – takes multiple, clear images of the breast, so smaller tumors can be detected at an earlier stage
- Breast ultrasound – uses high-frequency sound waves to determine if breast tissue is dense or if a lump is solid or filled with fluid; not intended as a replacement for a mammogram
- Computer-aided detection (CAD) – highlights abnormal areas of density, mass or calcification in breasts that may indicate the presence of cancer
Hours and Appointments
All breast screening and diagnostic services require a signed prescription from a physician. Most health insurance plans are accepted, but authorization may be required for some imaging exams. Patients should always check with their individual carriers to determine our participation with their plan and authorization requirements.
Walk-in appointments are available for some imaging exams. You may also schedule an appointment ahead of time by calling our central scheduling office at 973-895-6604.
