More than one million people each year sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI), a sudden physical blow to the head that may cause a contusion (bruising of the brain), a hematoma (bleeding around the brain) or both, and can damage the brain, leading to coma and even death.
Morristown Medical Center's Trauma Center, which is verified as a Level I Regional Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and designated a Level II by the state of New Jersey, treats neuro trauma patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We partner with local communities’ emergency services to ensure that acutely injured patients arrive at Morristown Medical in a timely manner and are treated as quickly as possible. In addition, our health care team conducts trauma research and offers community education and injury prevention programs.
