Stroke Center at Overlook Medical Center
Atlantic Neuroscience Institute’s Stroke Center at Overlook Medical Center provides award-winning, state-of-the-art medical care to stroke victims. In fact, Inside Jersey magazine partnered with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. and ranked Overlook Medical Center as No.1 for the treatment of neurological disorders and No.2 for stroke treatment in New Jersey.
Our multidisciplinary team of neurologists, interventional neuroradiologists, cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, endovascular neurosurgeons, stroke nurse practitioners, stroke program coordinators and neuroscience nurse educators are committed to minimizing the immediate and secondary brain damage from a stroke and maximizing our patients' chance for full recovery. They are part of a dedicated stroke unit and supported by a neuro intensive care unit (ICU) with specially-trained nurses and rehabilitation therapists.
With assistance from the Inpatient Neuroscience Unit at Overlook Medical, we provide diagnostic and treatment services, plus an array of outpatient programs, including a highly successful emergency medicine service (EMS) and a community education program.
What's more, the Stroke Center at Overlook Medical has received the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Centers and was designated the first Comprehensive Stroke Center in the state by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association has also recognized our exceptional stroke care program with the Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award and Target: Stroke Honor Roll.
