The Brain Tumor Center of New Jersey, part of the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute at Overlook Medical Center, provides state-of-the-art surgical and medical care for patients with a variety of benign and malignant brain tumors and neurological complications due to cancer. Our multi-disciplinary team of specialists features neurosurgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuroradiologists, neuro-pathologists and nurse specialists who facilitate timely, accurate diagnosis of each patient’s condition so physicians can administer highly specific, effective treatment to speed recovery. We use the safest and most efficient treatments available to decrease pain and risk and hasten recovery. For more difficult cases, new treatments in clinical trials are often employed; they may involve the use of new chemotherapeutic agents and other medications that stop tumor growth.
Our brain tumor diagnostic and treatment options include:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with diffusion and perfusion imaging – provides detailed, cross-sectional images of structure in the brain, enabling earlier diagnosis and treatment
Stereotactic radiosurgery (CyberKnife) – delivers a highly concentrated dose of radiation precisely to the selected tumor to shrink the tissue or stop its growth, optimizing treatment safety, reducing operation time and decreasing the length of hospitalization and recovery
Image guided neurosurgery – uses the guidance of MRI or computed tomography (CT) scans to assist surgeons in treating tumors
